BA BSc MBBS FRACP 

Dr Fiona Britten is a Consultant Endocrinologist providing private outpatient care at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and inpatient care at the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane. She also has a public appointment at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital where she works as an Obstetric Physician. Dr Britten completed a dual degree Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science in 2000, with majors in foreign languages, and biomedical science/pharmacology.

Dr Britten has experience in all areas of endocrinology including managing patients with diabetes, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, pituitary disorders and adrenal disorders including post pituitary surgery and adrenal surgery. She has a special interesting in managing endocrine disorders during pregnancy as well as general obstetric medicine and pre-conception counselling. She is a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, Australian Diabetes Society and the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Britten also has a keen interest in teaching and research being involved with UQ medical students. She is completing a Masters of Philosophy at the University of Queensland.

MBBS FRACP (PhD)

Dr Ross Cuneo is a Consultant Endocrinologist providing consultations at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and inpatient care at the Mater Private Hospital and the Brisbane Private Hospital. He has a special interest in pituitary, growth hormone and general endocrinology.

Dr Cuneo is a graduate of the University of Queensland followed by clinical and research experience at Princess Margaret Hospital, Christchurch, NZ and St Thomas's Hospital, London, UK Dr Cuneo has a public appointment as an Endocrinologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital. He has a PhD in studies on Growth Hormone Deficiency in adults and extensive teaching experience as staff member at University of Queensland.

He has extensive peer-reviewed publications and is a world expert in growth hormone. He is a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia and the US Endocrine Society.

Dr Lisa Hayes is a Consultant Endocrinologist providing private outpatient care at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and inpatient care at the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane. Dr Hayes also has a part-time appointment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in the Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology. Dr Hayes sees patients with diabetes and any general endocrine conditions. She has a special interest in genetic endocrine conditions, management of endocrine conditions in the setting of pregnancy or pregnancy planning and type 1 diabetes (including insulin pump therapy).

Dr Hayes graduated from the University of Queensland with First-Class honours and completed her endocrinology training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Mater Hospital. During her training Dr Hayes completed a year working at Genetic Health Queensland and has established a clinic for patients with Genetic Endocrine conditions. She is a member of Endocrine Society of Australia, the US Endocrine Society, the Australasian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society and the Australian Diabetes Society.

Dr Winnifred Lee is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Obstetric Physician, providing outpatient consultations at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and inpatient care at the Mater Private Hospital and Brisbane Private Hospital. She graduated from the University of Queensland with First Class Honours and a University Medal.

Dr Lee worked publicly as a Visiting Specialist at PA and Mater Hospitals moving into private practice only since 2009. She has pursued her passion for endocrinology, especially in improving outcomes of pregnant women with complex medical issues and optimising the health of patients with diabetes and other endocrine conditions with up to date evidence-based care. She has particular expertise in caring for those with type 1 diabetes including using insulin pump therapy.

She maintains her interest in new developments by being a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, the US Endocrine Society, the Australian Diabetes Society and the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Lee is actively involved in GP education.

Dr Cynthia Ong is a Consultant Endocrinologist providing outpatient care at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and a Visiting Specialist at the Mater Private and the Brisbane Private Hospitals. As a consultant, she has worked at the Princess Alexandra and Mater Hospitals before commencing Private Practice in 2010.

Dr Ong graduated from the Sydney University. She completed an osteoporosis and metabolic bone fellowship at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research before undertaking further postgraduate research studies in obesity and reproductive endocrinology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. She was awarded a number of postgraduate medical research grants including the esteemed NHMRC scholarship. She has also authored a number of peer reviewed papers, and is a member of Endocrine Society of Australia, Australian Diabetes Society, Australasian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society and the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Ong has a special interest in obstetric and reproductive endocrinology, osteoporosis and thyroid disorders. She enjoys assisting patients with diabetes in achieving optimal control and outcomes and is experienced in managing insulin pumps. She is also actively involved in GP education.

Brigid Knight (Accredited Practising Dietitian, Credentialled Diabetes Educator) and Janet Taylor (Registered Nurse, Credentialled Diabetes Educator) have over 35 years of combined experience working with clients with diabetes.

Brigid and Janet are Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating (DAFNE) facilitators and Certified Pump Trainers and are therefore well equipped to offer comprehensive education in intensive insulin therapy, both in the setting of insulin pump therapy and multiple injection therapy.
