Dr Erin Fanning
MBBS (Hons) FRACP

Dr Erin Fanning is a Consultant Endocrinologist, providing outpatient consultations at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and inpatient care at the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.

Dr Fanning graduated from the University of Queensland with First-Class Honours. She completed her Endocrinology training at the Townsville Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Dr Fanning sees patients with general endocrine conditions and diabetes. She has a special interest in thyroid and pituitary disorders and the management of diabetes and other endocrine conditions during pregnancy. Dr Fanning also has an interest in teaching and has a part time appointment with the University of Queensland as a clinical academic. She is a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, the US Endocrine Society and the Australian Diabetes Society.

Dr Winnifred Lee
MBBS (Hons) FRACP

Dr Winnifred Lee is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Obstetric Physician, providing outpatient consultations at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and inpatient care at the Mater Private Hospital and Brisbane Private Hospital. She graduated from the University of Queensland with First Class Honours and a University Medal.

Dr Lee worked publicly as a Visiting Specialist at PA and Mater Hospitals moving into private practice only since 2009. She has pursued her passion for endocrinology, especially in improving outcomes of pregnant women with complex medical issues and optimising the health of patients with diabetes and other endocrine conditions with up to date evidence-based care. She has particular expertise in caring for those with type 1 diabetes including using insulin pump therapy.

She maintains her interest in new developments by being a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, the US Endocrine Society, the Australian Diabetes Society and the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Lee is actively involved in GP education.

Dr Dianna Luong

Dr Dianna Luong is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Obstetric Medicine Physician providing outpatient consultation at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and inpatient care at the Mater Private and Mater Mothers Private Hospitals and Brisbane Private Hospital.

She also works at the Logan Hospital as a staff specialist Endocrinologist.

Dr Luong graduated from medical school at the University of Queensland with honours. She completed her Endocrinology and Obstetric Medicine training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Mater Hospital and the Royal Darwin Hospital.

Dr Luong is a well rounded Endocrinologist who sees patients with general endocrine conditions and diabetes.

She has a special interest in managing pituitary, diabetes and thyroid disease both in and outside of pregnancy. In particular, she enjoys helping pregnant women manage their type 1 diabetes on insulin pumps.

Dr Luong is an associate lecturer at the School of Medicine, University of Queensland and enjoys educating junior medical staff and students. She is a strong advocate for identifying and managing psychological stressors early in diabetes to improve outcomes, and has presented and published literature in this field of medicine.

She is a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, the Australian Diabetes Society, the Australasian Diabetes In Pregnancy Society and the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Bianca Nightingale
BSc MBBS FRACP

Dr Bianca Nightingale is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Obstetric Medicine Physician, providing outpatient consultations at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and inpatient care at the Mater Private Hospital. She also works at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital as an Obstetric Physician.

Dr Nightingale graduated from the University of Queensland. She completed her Endocrinology and Obstetric Medicine training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital. Dr Nightingale sees patients with general endocrine conditions and diabetes. She has a special interest in managing endocrine disorders and other medical conditions in pregnancy, as well as pre-conception counselling. She is a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, the US Endocrine Society, the Australian Diabetes Society and the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australian and New Zealand.

Dr Cynthia Ong
MBBS FRACP

Dr Cynthia Ong is a Consultant Endocrinologist providing outpatient care at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and a Visiting Specialist at the Mater Private and the Brisbane Private Hospitals. As a consultant, she has worked at the Princess Alexandra and Mater Hospitals before commencing Private Practice in 2010.

Dr Ong graduated from the Sydney University. She completed an osteoporosis and metabolic bone fellowship at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research before undertaking further postgraduate research studies in obesity and reproductive endocrinology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. She was awarded a number of postgraduate medical research grants including the esteemed NHMRC scholarship. She has also authored a number of peer reviewed papers, and is a member of Endocrine Society of Australia, Australian Diabetes Society, Australasian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society and the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Ong has a special interest in obstetric and reproductive endocrinology, osteoporosis and thyroid disorders. She enjoys assisting patients with diabetes in achieving optimal control and outcomes and is experienced in managing insulin pumps. She is also actively involved in GP education.

Dr Benjamin Sly
MBBS FRACP

Dr Benjamin Sly is a Consultant Endocrinologist providing outpatient care at Brisbane Diabetes Endocrinology and inpatient care at the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane. He also works as a Senior Medical Officer within the department of Diabetes and Endocrinology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Dr Sly graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery and completed his endocrinology training at Cairns Base Hospital and the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Dr Sly is completing a PhD at the University of Queensland focusing on the management of diabetes in the digital hospital environment. In his roles with the Diabetes Clinical Network and Digital Diabetes Working Group he leads statewide projects developing digital strategies and tools to improve diabetes care.

Dr Sly sees patients with diabetes and any general endocrinology conditions. He has a special interest in diabetes, pituitary disorders, thyroid disease and hypertension.

He is a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia, the Australian Diabetes Society and the Health Informatics Society of Australia.

Janet Taylor
Registered Nurse & Credentialled Diabetes Educator

Janet has dedicated over 20 years of her professional life to improving the lives of people with diabetes through teaching practical self-management skills and the use of advanced technologies.

Janet is Registered Nurse, Credentialled Diabetes Educator and Certified Insulin Pump and CGM trainer.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Health Sciences and post graduate qualifications in Diabetes Education. She holds certification in diabetes technologies including the Medtronic Hybrid Closed Loop Pump, Tandem TSlim Basal IQ technology, Yposomed Insulin Pump as well as Dexcom and Medtronic continuous glucose monitoring.

Janet was a founding staff member of the Qld Diabetes Centre at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane. She played an integral role in the delivery of the Insulin Pump Service and insulin stabilisation service. She attended King’s College in London and Sheffield University, U.K. in 2004, as part of the original Australian team to be trained in the DAFNE (Dose Adjustment For Normal Eating Program).

​Janet believes that all people with diabetes should have access to the highest quality care, including access to life-saving technology. She believes that diabetes self-management education (learning to manage your own diabetes) is the best discovery since insulin itself.

Janet values a team approach and works closely to partner with you, your Endocrinologist and GP to offer you a very personalised management approach.
